Kurt Warner announces his retirement

At his best, there were very few quarterbacks who could compare to Kurt Warner. At his worst, he was riding the pine behind the likes of unproven players (at the time) like Eli Manning, Marc Bulger and Matt Leinart.

In the end, there's little doubt that Kurt Warner will eventually end up enshrined in Canton, Ohio in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He's a two-time MVP, a Super Bowl MVP, a 2-time All-Pro selection, and even with the way he racked up yards in bunches, he's still #2 on the all-time list for completion percentage.

Few QB's have ever matched his combination of power and precision passing. He was accurate anywhere on the field, and was always a threat to stretch the defense with a long ball.

Not bad for a guy whose career was almost over before it began, when he was bagging groceries in Iowa.
