Kyle Busch to get a new Crew Chief
Steve Addington Out, Dave Rogers in
READ MORE:

Steve Addington helped Kyle Busch win twelve races, but as we all know, Busch didn't make the 2009 Chase, even though he had 4 victories by the time the regular season came to a close.  Unfortunately, those four victories were coupled with a bunch of really poor finishes, and we all know, if the results aren't there, someone other than the driver has to take the blame.

Although Kyle managed a third place finish at Martinsville, that was his first top five  finish in some time.

Dave Rogers was the Crew Chief for the 20 team in the Nationwide series last year, and has worked with a myriad of drivers, including Tony Stewart, Denny Hamlin, Kyle and Joey Logano.

The change will take place starting at Texas Motor Speedway, meaning Steve Addington will still be on the box for Talladega.   Addington wil work somewhere else within the Gibbs organization.

Why can't the driver be blaimed?  Is the driver not the one behind the wheel?  Is it not the driver that tells the crew chief what is wrong with the car?  If you ask me the driver is ALWAYS the one that is at fault!!!!
Because it is a lot more costly to change the driver, than it is the Crew Chief.  The DRIVER is the one that does all the commercials for the sponsors.  So, the driver is commonly the last thing the team will change

I actually heard about this last week, but didn't figure they would announce it until the last week of the Season. Hopefully Dave can help Kyle get back in the Chase.

I heard "of" it as well. Of course JD denied everything and said they are "constantly reviewing the teams and staff placements, it's not news".  Yeah right, until it becomes news

Personally, I wouldn't have done this yet.  Sure they've ran into some issues here lately but those two were doing some amazing things.

this will give more material to come up with excuses for having a bad race, as far kyle vs dale jr. the difference is jr. doesn't make all the excuses , he just unfortunately loses.

I wondered if it was time to pull Addington, though he's done so well with Kyle especially last year, when he seemed to have lost his nerve like taking two-tire gambles and supposedly not listening to Kyle's suggestions like he would do last year.  However, I'm still not sure Dave was the right pick.  I would have went with Jason Ratcliff since he got so many wins last year and again this year with Kyle in the Nationwide.  Seemed to me the chemistry was there between those two, but will wait and see how Dave and Kyle work together before passing full judgement... just hope it doesn't turn out Jason would have been the better move and wish the best to Steve.  Something to consider is other than last year, for the most part the drivers of the 18 with Addington as the crew chief have struggled so it could have been him all along and last year was just a fluke.
