Kyle Orton has finger cut during loss to the Chicago Bears
Kyle Orton finally has a good game for the Broncos, but naturally gets his finger busted open in the process.
Kyle Orton finally had himself a decent game during Jay Cutler's return to Denver on Sunday night. Orton was 12-for-16 for 96 yards when he smacked his throwing hand on player's helmet during the second quarter.

Naturally, with the way the Broncos season has been going, Orton's finger started gushing blood and he had to leave the game. One would think he'll need stitches or will be unavailable for at least a few days.

In other news, receiver Eddie Royal also pulled up lame during the game, meaning aside from Brandon Marshall (who doesn't seem to want to play at all) this team is a complete mess.

Peter King even Twittered this after speaking with head coach Josh McDaniels:

Just off the phone with Josh McDaniels for Monday Morning QB. For 33, he sounded 53. Not down. He'll need that stiff upper lip in '09.

Yeah, it's going to be a long year in Denver.

Josh McDaniels was hyped enough to play when he was talking to Andrea Kramer before the game.  That's not really your job, Josh, and whether Kyle (minus the neckbeard) can play or not, you have ruined that franchise.  I wonder what conversations were going on when Cutler took the Bears 98 yards on a touchdown drive?

That was actually a good game.  He was doing well.  Unfortunately he split that finger open a little before half time.  It didn't look too bad though.  Maybe a few stitches at most.  You gotta feel for the guy, he has no real targets to throw at if Eddie Royal is out and Marshall keeps on acting like a Prima Donna.  Orton stepped into a bad situation.

A bad situation that he made worse by becoming the Quarterback.

Yeah I agree he is not the best quarterback.  Being from central Illinois Bears games are shown every Sunday.  He's not going to make anything better in Denver, but at least in Chicago he has some job security because the only options were him and Rex Grossman.

Orton is my dude and Royal is my dude.  I don't like the Broncos but those 2 get right.

No, no, Orton can still throw with his left arm...(to the other team)...but if things really get bad (Orton and Simms are now both hurt), they could just go old school and run 100% running plays...

Chris Collinsworth was spot on when he said Kyle Orton is like an innocent bystander in all this Cutler hoopla.  He's not the greatest quarterback in the world, but he's not terrible either.  Orton is at his best when you simplify the playbook and have him throw a lot of short/intermediate routs.  That won't happen in McDaniel's offense and unfortunately for him, his career will always be linked to Cutler because trading a franchise caliber quarterback only happens once in a blue moon.

Orton will start in the last preseason game. A cut finger is no big deal. They'll stitch him up and he'll be fine.

I feel sorry for my boy Orton. Being an average quarterback looks really bad when the coach is not too bright (traded a franchise QB...and is fueding with a bratty receiver)..and all your running backs are hurt! The very definition of an innocent bystander!

Orton get his finger cut up and Cutler gives the Broncos the proverbial finger.

Sheeeesh!
