Landon Donovan says David Beckham is a terrible teammate
Landon Donovan confirms what all Major League Soccer fans already know.... David Beckham is a terrible teammate
13

I dont have a favorite soccer player but Landon Donovan is starting to win me over.  First, his play in the Confederation Cup and now his desire to call out David Beckham and label him as a bad teammate.  I cant wait for July 17th when Beckham returns to the MLS and plays alongside Donovan for the LA Galaxy.

Wow. This is like when DeShawn Stevenson was talking crap to LeBron James. Landon can't even crack a strating lineup any where in Europe. So who is he to talk about Beckham. I'm not a fan of Beckham either....I personally believe he is overrated as a player. All he is is a good free kick kicker, nothing else. But I don't think Donovan is any better either. Beckham is not challenged here so he is not playing at the same level he would play overseas. But it's still not an excuse. These 2 will kiss and make up by August.

Isn't this assuming that Beckham is transferred back to LA? I mean, after these comments I'm sure Becks could find some reason to stay over in Europe.

Man, you are mistaken about Landon Donovan. Not only could he start in Europe, he could start for teams in the top Euro leagues. Want evidence of that? Last year Landon was loaned to Bayern Munich, in the Bundesliga (the top pro league in Germany). Landon had 5 goals for Bayern Munich. Bayern Munich let Landon come back to LA, because they have Miroslav Klose and Luca Toni who are two of the top 10-15 strikers in the world. Otherwise Landon would still be with them and I suspect after the way Landon has played recently he can go back to Europe any time he wants. However, it seems Landon prefers to play in the USA and why not? He's one of the highest paid players in MLS and have you seen his wife?

I don't blame Landon for staying in the US when he's got Bianca at home. And I'll say that I think she's a lot hotter than Posh, which is yet another one-up that Landon has on Becks.

I guess Beckham has to do a little more to spice up the dressing room.

We can confidently assume that for the past 3-5 yrs, David Beckham has been bought/sold and played in teams not for his footballing skills but rather his maraquee qualities!!!

True Landon was on loan to Bayern, but if they really wanted to keep him they would've made an offer to the MLS for his rights. But they didn't need him. To correct you he scored 4 goals in 5 friendlies & 0 goals in league play.

The team declined to extend his loan, with Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge stating that with strikers such as Miroslav Klose and Luca Toni already available, additional forwards should be young "with perspective".

Reading between the line sounds like he has no perspective with the team & it's goals. And I don't hear any teams knocking on his door for his services. He was told to get his bags packed cause he was no longer needed. So it wasn't his choice to come back to LA. This is his 2nd time in Germany, couldn't cut it with Bayer Leverkusen & now with Bayern. Some plalyers can't play in certain leagues. As some leagues play rough & some players are prima donas. I know the Bundasliga, Premier & the Serie A in Italy are very rough. Unlike the Spainish league where the defense is usually soft & you have all those forwards that play in Spain.

Landon will only play in the MLS. He will be a bench player on a foreign teams league team. Oh yea he can get more money playing over in Europe than he would ever make here in the MLS.

Yep, 4 goals in 5 friendlies, my bad.

But nobody is asking for his services because he and his agent have made it pretty clear that he wants to play in the US. I just don't buy it that Landon couldn't play in europe if he wanted to.

The only place I can see him playing is in Spain. Cause like I said their defense is soft.

It's ok...sometimes it's hard to see the truth about your favorite player. Landon will be an MLS legend & hold some USA Team records but unfortunately he won't do anything overseas. Maybe in Spain, but after that I don't think he might have any more chances to go overseas. As alot of the teams like young players, due to the fact that they can develop & quite possibly sell them to another team for a profit.

In Spain he wouldn't last a chance.
