The logo for the 2012 Olympic Games -- a jagged emblem in bold colours designed to define the image of the Games in five years' time -- has been unveiled in London. Critics immediately condemned it as "hideous" and a waste of money.(AFP/Shaun Curry)
I agree, it's definitely a unique Olympic logo. I still am not sure how I feel about the design though. It kind of has a "clip art" feel to it. And I am not a fan of clip art. Still, it stands out and since what they are going for is branding the London games, I'd say the logo accomplishes that. People talking about what they think of it helps accomplish the branding too.
I'm trying to like it, but so far it's not happening.
If you're wanting something that symbolizes both unity and diversity, why would you have a bunch of identically-colored shapes that are not unified in any way (other than that they vaguely resemble "2012")?
To me, this looks like a 3-year-old got a hold of some jigsaw puzzle pieces.

Never been a big fan of black ... but I like the Logo itself. It's different and not so literal like many that have preceded it. What are your thoughts Jewel?
