Lord Stanley, his keepers and chaperones are all on their way to Anaheim, should the Ducks win Wednesday night.
It's amazing to me how much care and special treatment the cup receives this time of year. Constant polishing, traveling in a crushed velvet lined locked trunk, and with handlers. Not that the Holy Grail deserves anything less, but because once upon a time, the poor beautiful trophy was abused after transferring hands to the winners.
The cup has been drop-kicked, forgotten, exposed to porn, been bowling, and even had geraniums planted in it. Now there are "cup cops" though, who chaperone the cup in all its glorious adventures.
