Lou Piniella voted the manager that players would least like to play for
Shocking news: players don't want to play for Lou Piniella
26
Less than a week after his verbal attack on fellow head case Milton Bradley, it has been announced that Lou Piniella "won" a Sports Illustrated poll asking which manager they'd least like to play for.

The voting was done before the Bradley incident, but Piniella is known for being a bit of a nut job, so is it really a surprise?

Since Lou is 1st and Ozzie Guillen is 2nd, this poll just proves that players don't want to be held accountable.

One of the few times I am glad Ozzie can't top Lou.

"Eric Wedge made the list because nobody wanted to finish in last place"

Sadly enough I had to agree.

"Also, 53 percent of the players poll responded "Who?" when asked about Pittsburgh's John Russell.*"

John Russell? He's the guy that won all those championships with the Celtics, right?

Your comment ruled, by the way.

It's the only thing any Cubs are winning this year.

I guess that's one more thing than they have won in the last 100 years too.

Which will be the case always and forever, unfortunately.  An with how coaches get hired and fired across all professional sports leagues, team management has no one to blame but themselves.  But again, always a lot easier to fire one guy than an entire team, as desirable as that may seem in some cases.

I can't agree more, Dave.  I wonder who these "Lou haters" are?  Junior loves Lou, ARod loves him more, and so do the old Cincinatti people.  He did continuously call Scott Eyre "Stevie Eyre," and purposely didn't learn his name because he pitched so badly.

AS FAR AS THE CUBS GO, THEY HAVE TO SUCK IT UP AND START PLAYING THE GAME, AND STOP LOOKING FOR EXCUSES, THEY ARE 73 GAMES INTO THE SEASON, PLAY THE GAME. AND AS FOR OZZIE, HE JUST LIKES TO HEAR HIMSELF RAMBLE AND RAMBLE ABOUT NOTHING.

Bradley definately deserved the verbal beat down he got....i just dont understand the hatred for pinella...sure could use a coach like that in dallas...rather than the scared child we have now!!! Keep it up lou!!!!!!

I know it's the White Sox, but I love the way Ozzie Guillen manages.  He knows what he's doing.  That championship ring was no fluke.

C'mon now. You're just being silly. The Sox weren't expected to do jack in 2005 when they won it all. You cannot possibly say he had a loaded roster that could hardly fail to win the Series. They won 90 games in 2006. After a lousy 2007 they won 89 games and the division last year. He may not win another WS, but that hardly proves anything. Only one manager per season can win it all and his one is more than a whole lot of other guys. To say he can't manage is just dumb.

Well while I agree on the statement on not putting up with prima donnas. I really dont see any reason to compare him to Bobby Knight. Lou Pinnella is a great coach, and will praise his team for hard work. He is tough. But very fair. And yes players have forgotten that are accountable.

Milton Bradley has proved nothing here. I feel like he doesnt care about this team at all. And to watch Mark Derosa in a cardinal uniform is heartbreaking.
