MLB clears Mariano Rivera in alleged spitball incident
Well, that was quick. Major League Baseball has cleared Mariano Rivera in alleged spitball incident
We just posted video of what appeared to be Mariano Rivera spitting on the baseball during game 3 of the ALCS between the Angels and Yankees. According to Joel Sherman of the NY Post, the league has already looked at it, and is fine with it.

"The Commissioners Office reviewed available video and still photography from Mariano Rivera spitting toward a baseball in ALCS Game 3 and “found no evidence that Rivera spit on the ball,” a spokesman for the commissioner told the Post."

That's to be expected. After all, it's Mariano Rivera and the Yankees. I'm not saying I wanted to see a suspension or something, but it would have been nice if they at least made it look like they took it seriously, right?

why is acting quickly construed as it not being taken seriously, they looked at the tape (I'm sure more tape than just a youtube video) and determined that there was no conclusive proof that he spit on the ball.  Thanks MLB, now lets move on.

its bad he spit on the ball cause it gives the pitcher a unfair advantage that is why they cant put their hands to their mouth for extra moisture

The myth of the spitter. It has been alleged for years that spitting on a baseball makes it do special tricks. If adding moisture to a baseball gives a pitcher an unfair advantage, then why dont they just wipe some sweat off their forehead and why aren't games stopped during minor rain showers. I've always noticed that when a pitcher's hand gets too sweatty he goes to the resin bag to get a better grip. Can someone, maybe a rocket scientist or physicist explain the advantage of spit over rain and sweat when it comes to adding moisture to a baseball?

Ray Chapman of the Cleveland Indians was killed when  Carl Mays of the (you guessed it) New York Yankees threw a spitball that hit him in the head.  It was outlawed after that.

Something else to harp on the Yankees about Haters.
