Manny Acta signed to be manager of Cleveland Indians
For some reason the Cleveland Indians sign Manny Acta - who was fired by the Nationals - to be their manager
READ MORE:
I'm pretty much speechless about this one.

For some reason the Cleveland Indians have decided to hire Manny Acta as their new manager. Yes, that would be the same Manny Acta who was fired by the Washington Nationals, one of the worst teams I've seen in years.

I mean, granted Acta didn't exactly have a great situation in DC, but that team was comically bad. They played like idiots, and some of that has to be the coach's responsibility.

It's just amazing to me that in pro sports, you constantly see retreads get hired who have consistently sucked at their job. In any other line of work, these guys would have fired years ago.

Anyway, enjoy losing for however long Acta is in town, Cleveland. God, what a stupid signing.

Exactly, the team was bad. No person could have managed that team to an above .500 record. Hopefully he will be able to show off what he can really do as a manager in Cleveland, which is a more ideal situation.

This signing isn't as terrible as you're making it out to be.

If I was a Tribe GM, I would've signed Valentine, Don Mattingly, Buck Showalter, or even BUDDY BELL. Anyway Acta got a bad rap in Washington, and that record is not his fault. Give Acta a chance.

This hiring screams "we won't spend the money to win right now."  Mangini, Acta, and Mike Brown... there's trio of coaching brilliance for the fans of Cleveland.

You are right on Bob ! The city of Cleveland, has been CURSED, since 1965( the year I was born of course). And with the economy as terrible as it is, I dont see---no offense to the Cavs--- the Browns or Indians get better anytime soon.

Maybe I'm nuts, but this seems like a good fit. Acta had no chance to succeed in Washington, and despite that disaster, all I hear is that people still think he could be a good manager. Plus, his stat-friendly approach fits with the front office. I'm not buying that this is an immediate and obvious disaster.

Does this mean they get the Rachel Phelps cardboard cutout in their locker room?

Thank you I didn't want him to go... look at who's been there they went off and had good times coaching elsewhere *cough cough* Charlie Manuel *cough cough*.  I care as a Tribes fan, I will give him the chance to try first I think it's unfortunate to pre-judge.  Major Leagues is a classic too!  Bring out the cut out hide the women reporters.
