Martin Brodeur surpasses Patrick Roy in games played

The New Jersey Devils defeated the Ottawa Senators Friday night, not a huge surprise, since the Sens haven't been able to pull out a win against the Devils since 2007.

However, Martin Brodeur, in his 16th season with the Devils, broke Patrick Roy's record in that game as well.  Many argued last year, when he broke the games won record, that the record keeping just isn't the same, given the shoot-outs, but the NHL has established the method of keeping track.  In his 1,030th regular season game, Martin Brodeur passed Patrick Roy for the record of most games played by a goalie, and that record can't be argued.

And he got an assist on one of the 4 goals.

Brodeur continues to work towards beating Terry Sawchuck's shutout record, and that achievement could come at any time.
