Iran coach Mohammad Mayeli Kohan has been summoned by the Iranian Football Federation (IFF) to explain his recent comments in regard to Esteghlal and former Iranian coach Amir Ghaleneoi.

Mayeli Kohan was appointed earlier this month to succeed Ali Daei as head trainer of the national team but is still in charge of league club Saipa.

In last weekend’s league clash between Saipa and Esteghlal, Blues fans directed a number of chants in the direction of the new national team coach.

Mayeli Kohan responded with a statement the following day.

“…During the match we were attacked with the worst insults. These insults were led by little people and their entourage…I am telling these people who call themselves the General [Ghalenoi] that they do not have any educational background and qualifications."

Kohan went on to use several derogatory remarks that directly and indirectly referred to Esteghlal's head coach.

IFF have called upon Mayeli Kohan to explain the recent comments.

Iran face a crucial 2010 World Cup qualifier in North Korea on June 6.
