Looks like the Mets will not be getting any money from the Madoff swindle. Trustee Irving Picard has denied their claim and it looks like they may have made money and not lost 700 million as originally reported.
The Mets made money? This doesnt make a shred of sense to me.
A basic definition of a ponzi scheme is that it uses new investors' monies to repay old investors...I guess the Mets were on the Madoff bandwagon early and cashed out? Pure speculation on that part, but if that would be true, wouldn't they know they got their money back? And trying to get money back be fraudulent? Or Mets accounting is a mess just like the team, GM, etc.
