Michael Crabtree will start immediately
So much for taking things slowly. Michael Crabtree will start immediately.
READ MORE:
NFL wide receivers - even high draft picks - have a habit of starting out their careers slowly. I guess the 49ers are hoping that isn't the case with Michael Crabtree.

49ers leading receiver Josh Morgan was informed Monday that Crabtree will be taking his place in the starting lineup opposite Isaac Bruce, according to the Santa Rosa Press Democrat.  Morgan stuck around the 49ers facility during the team's bye week to help Crabtree assimilate into the offense. Ouch.

This is clearly going to be a trial-by-fire for Crabtree. Frankly, I'm excited to see what happens, but I can't say I'm expecting much. You can't make up for an entire offseason and training camp in two weeks. How does everyone think he'll do?

Mike Singletary is not a coach to take lack of effort in stride, so this says to me that Crabtree must be working his tail off. I do not expect that Crabtree will set the world on fire, but it is a pleasant surprise to know that he is making the effort. After the lengthy holdout I was looking for another prima donna wide receiver....like the league does not have enough of those!

he will struggle . he should learn their system before he plays, but if anyone can light a fire under his butt its singletary, should be interesting . like a train wreck you just can't look away.

hes facing the flip-flop texans so all bets are open at this point in time. and morgan isnt suffering much. hes gonna start next year when bruce retires.

Morgan has been a bit of a disappointment at wide out, so the competition wasn't exactly Fitzgerald and Boldin.

Gives meaning to the phrase: From the frying pan into the fire.

part of me wants to see the kid explode (aka...my fantasy football team) but the other part wants the kid to fall on his face for holding out so damn long.

I definitely think he'll struggle early. Many rookies who actually attend training camp and work hard to learn their playbooks struggle. What can be expected of someone who hasn't put the work in?

Also, I must admit that I'm surprised that a hard-core guy like Singletary is allowing this -- unless maybe his arm was twisted by someone in the front office.

I think even going on the field a bit cold, he will warm up nicely and do his part for the theam.

I'm shocked that he'll start right away. That's really says a lot about how vanilla the niners offense is if he can learn it all in a week.

Dead on and the reason I think he will struggle isn't what a lot of people think.  There's going to be timing issues with Hill, digesting the speed of the game, and also conditioning.  I do think being in a pass happy offense like they had at Tech getting the plays won't be a problem.  As for Morgan well if he did better he wouldn't lose his job it's that simple.

Ultimate team move by Josh Morgan, but I don't think Crabtree should initally start. We'll see how it works out

For the 49ers sake, lets hope he doesn't pull an Andre Smith.

He's a starter on MADDEN

WR is the easiest position to learn, they will have about 5 simple routes he can run, just block the man in front of you on running plays,  timing with the QB will be the key and when the QB is flushed from the pocket how and where will he react are important issues.  I beleive he will do something spectacular against Houston.  After all he beat Texas last year in the final seconds while a Red Raider....

Well, the Texans are going to lose, so it's a good time to get him into a positive, winning atmosphere with the team.
Texans' season so far: Week 1 loss, Week 2 win, Week 3 loss, Week 4 win, Week 5 loss, Week 6 win...
