Michael Phelps seems like a good kid who has just been caught up in the rock star treatment that comes with being an accomplished athlete. He has admitted he made a mistake, apologized for it and obviously has no issue with the punishment. His image may take a hit for the time being and his wallet may be a little lighter with the loss of a sponsorship but in the long run, America will either forgive or forget and everybody will move on.

I will never understand why a pro athlete of any sport is punished for smoking weed! It's not as though it is a performance enhancing drug of any kind. Not to mention usually the athletes that get caught smoking are the best at what they do..I.E. Mike Phelps,Ricky Williams,Robert Parish...The other guys they play should be thanking them...Imagine how great they would be if they didnt have the munchies during a game!
