Michael Vick wins Eagles award for courage

"The Ed Block Courage Award recipient symbolizes professionalism, great strength and dedication. He is also a community role model."

That's the award that Michael Vick received from his Philadelphia Eagles teammates. I have no problem with Vick being reinstated in the NFL. I have no problem with people rooting for him to do well, and redeem himself after a horrific chapter in his life.

However, as Chris Chase points out at Shutdown Corner, perhaps it's a little too early to be giving out awards like this to a guy who really hasn't done anything yet.

The Michael Vick redemption journey is a long one, and he's not quite out of the woods yet, folks. I hope he does well, and I hope he proves in the long run that he has turned his life around. However, let's not pretend he has done more than he has.
