Miguel Cabrera is on the Tigers' trading block, possibly to the Red Sox

The Tigers are looking to make some big moves this offseason, mostly involving dumping huge amounts of salary. One of those moves could be trading Miguel Cabrera, who inexplicably received a first place vote for AL MVP this year.

One of the rumors is that the Red Sox could send Clay Buchholz and some other prospects to the Tigers for Cabrera, and they would sign John Lackey to take Buchholz's place in the rotation.

On the field, this would seem to be great for the Red Sox, depending on which prospects they give up. Trading for Cabrera would allow them to play Jeremy Hermida in left field, and still have a potent lineup.

However, Cabrera is not without shortcomings. He has had some off-field issues, including a fight with his wife late in the year, and was slumping badly when the Tigers needed him the most. His character issues might make it a mistake for the Sox to take that risk.
