NBA Draft Day is Here With More Rumors and No Trades
by CriticalFanatic
6/28/07

Unequivocally, this is the most excited I've been for the NBA Draft and we already know the first two names David Stern will announce.

Since I'm more of a college basketball, perhaps it's due to getting a heavy dose of each and every prospect. Or possibly it's that even the 9th pick (Bulls) is critical and a very, very good player will land there. A very, very good player will land in the late teens.

Or course the most intriguing element to today is the possible of a blockbuster trades and a great deal of shifting at the top of the draft. Something will surely mess up our predictions today, it's just a matter of what that will be. Speaking of which, be sure to enter in your mock draft predictions to take on the experts.

On to today's rumors:

Any chance the Kevin Garnett deal still happens? Depends who you're listening to. Sounds as if it's Atlanta who is holding the trade up for financial reasons. If it's finances they are concerned about, then the following rumor makes sense ...

Is it possible the Atlanta Hawks will draft Yi Jianlian at 3? Wow. And here I was thinking there was no way for Billy Knight to screw up the draft. It appears there is a group of the Hawks management pressuring for Yi, which I can only assume is a marketing/business decision.

A new All-Star name surfaces in trade talks. Sonics want to trade Ray Allen for a top pick.

Someone trade somebody. That's all I ask. I'll keep updating the rumors throughout the day. As far the schedule today: Plan on a CF Mock Draft compared to the FanIQ Predictions later today and of course, you'd better be here tonight for the NBA Draft Live-Comment Thread.

Feel free to post any and all rumors you hear in the comments.

Joel Przybilla for the 6th pick?

Milwaukee should be disbarred as an NBA franchise if they except this. I do think the Blazers are going to do whatever they can to get Mike Conley, or at the very least move back up.

Golden State is still trying to do whatever it can to get Yi.

Biedrins + 18th for Bucks 6th?

We may be headed for another colossal Bucks draft failure

"KJR-AM radio reported that the Sonics offered Allen to the Boston Celtics for the fifth pick and Theo Ratliff."

And the Celtics said no???? Ainge is even dumber than I thought.

well, I think that the Pacers will have a draft pick tonight-- just not thru the J.O. trade route like originally guessed-- Bird spilled his guts (somewhat) by saying "we'll pick up a good shooter, no doubt" when talking about a person they were acquiring-- the latest is that either a $4 mill trade exception or David Harrison will be traded to Phoenix for one of the later draft picks....

Actually, I wouldn't do that trade either.

I like Allen, but how many effective years does he have left? Granted Ainge is likely to screw up the 5th pick, anyway.

He's 32, and his numbers have shown no real sign of decreasing yet. I'd rather have 3 years of Ray Allen then however many years they'd have of whoever they take at #5.

Seeing has Boston has no real plan, this would improve the team right now. If I'm Danny Ainge, this trade keeps me employed a while longer.

Denver is trying to move Camby for a draft pick

Good move by the Nuggets, sell as high as he'll get before another injury. That said, what's his value. It's definitely not a Top 12 pick in this draft.
