Hmm, that definitely makes sideline catches a lot tougher, now that all a DB has to do is knock him out of bounds in the air. Although the force out was very tricky since it was such a judgement call.
As for the other changes...
So far they aren't re-seeding the playoffs, I think the system is fine the way it is.
They added reviews to field goals, which makes perfect sense.
I like the deferring the coin toss, I think that's a solid idea.
Defensive players can now wear radio helmets, which is only fair if the QB is allowed to on offense. (More green dot!)
And getting rid of the 5-yd facemask, not sure I agree with that one.
I am glad they are not messing with the playoffs. If you re-seed then what is the point of having divisions then?
Like the force out rule, Viking fans feel that this came a couple years too late. It just gets too easy for receivers especially in the End Zone.
It seems amazing that for a league where a ton of games come down to a FG that they did not have this in place.
Like the coin toss and the 5yard face-mask rule. Too many times they were calling those 15 yarders anyway.
As for the radio in defensive players helmets it will be interesting to see how this will work. Defensive players move in and out with substitutions so will there be one guy who has the helmet or 2 guys. Also will a radio hold up in defensive players helmet? A QB gets hit ,but not every play. Since too many guys still lead with their heads, I see radios having issues. But again I am no expert on anything.
Great to see they are working on the rules, but how about fixing the potential labor issues?
