NFL suspends Vick indefinetly without pay
READ MORE:

Vick will be suspended from the league until further notice.  In a letter to Vick from Goodell, it said the following:

"Your admitted conduct was not only illegal, but also cruel and reprehensible. Your team, the NFL, and NFL fans have all been hurt by your actions."

"Your plea agreement and the plea agreements of your co-defendants also demonstrate your significant involvement in illegal gambling. Even if you personally did not place bets, as you contend, your actions in funding the betting and your association with illegal gambling both violate the terms of your NFL Player Contract and expose you to corrupting influences in derogation of one of the most fundamental responsibilities of an NFL player."

"You have engaged in conduct detrimental to the welfare of the NFL and have violated the league's Personal Conduct Policy."

"I will review the status of your suspension following the conclusion of the legal proceedings. As part of that review, I will take into account a number of factors, including the resolution of any other charges that may be brought against you, whether in Surry County, Virginia, or other jurisdictions, your conduct going forward, the specifics of the sentence imposed by Judge Hudson and any related findings he might make, and the extent to which you are truthful and cooperative with law enforcement and league staff who are investigating these matters."

"I have advised the Falcons that, with my decision today, they are no longer prohibited from acting and are now free to assert any claims or remedies available to them under the Collective Bargaining Agreement or your NFL Player Contract."

You literally beat me to posting this by 1 min. Since the suspension is without pay, does that mean the Falcons and Arthur Blank are off the hook for the rest of his contract?

I imagine so.  Although I wonder if they keep him or if they flat out cut him.  I'd say goodbye to him if I was them, but something tells me that if he's only in jail for a year that they'll keep him.

So do you think that the NFL would just give the Falcons cap relief for the X amount of years/months that Vick is in jail? Kinda of a sticky situation for the Falcons.

I don't know.  You wonder how much of the guaranteed money they still have to give him.  The Falcons spent a sh*t ton of money on him.

And to think, they traded up to get him instead of Tomlinson...

Hind sight is always 20-20. That Matt Schaub trade isn't looking too good either. Maybe they should have taken Brady Quinn while he was falling in the draft because I think there were signs of trouble brewing around the Draft.

I think Harrington could be successful with talent around him...but they don't have any talent around him.  The receivers are crap, the line is mediocre, Dunn is hurt.  Even with the Dogfighter this offense was going to have issues.

Well, they'll likely be in the Brian Brohm sweepstakes running...

With Petrino as the Coach almost seems perfect.

I hadn't even thought of that.  That'd work out great for them to get him if when they suck.  They'd still need to get receivers, and some linemen, but you can do that later in the draft and in free agency.  Defensively, they're ok, but nothing special.

From ESPN "Goodell freed the Falcons to "assert any claims or remedies" to recover $22 million of Vick's signing bonus from the 10-year, $130 million contract he signed in 2004.

That's the only figures I can find.
