The 1989 Steelers offense had been battered, bruised, and belittled throughout the 1989 season.  And not without just cause, as this group, ranked 28th in the NFL, went ten straight weeks without outgaining their opponents.

The Steelers offense had managed, barely, to outgain the New York Jets before, but this week they exploded on the New England Patriots in a day that saw Tim Worley, Merrill Hoge, and Louis Lipps turn in outstanding performances.
