The Patriots top the list... no surprise there, right? There's not a lot of surprise in the last place team either... the Oakland Raiders. It looks like the rumors of Al Davis' incompetency have not been exaggerated at all.

The Cowboys are also pretty low (#17), considering how successful everyone assumes them to be.

And of course, the top 5 teams are all in the AFC. I'm just saying.

Here's the list, courtesy of NFL.com:

Last time i looked the STEELERS won the Super Bowl and the Patsies didn't even make the playoffs.....btw chowda head fans what happened to the bruins and the celtics?-they were ELIMINATED within a few days of each other(notice how their bandwagon jumping fans FORGET about that?lol......why is it that patsies knuckleheads ALWAYS bash the RAIDERS.....What wasn't mentioned is How MANY people HATE Belichek(Butthead) and we are SICK of hearing about the Pats....they do PLAY sports outside of new england....Just because Brady is back from the injury you all think they are going back to the Super Bowl-wanna put money on it?

Yeah, exactly. I think looking at statistical sample of one or two or even five seasons is very misleading. Expand this to the past 25 years, that might make it have some more meaning.

Not to mention that teams that get the top draft picks are paying more for those picks, thus have an overall higher salary, and then they get less wins because they are still building. So you can't just look at a couple of years. You've gotta look at at least 20 years, IMO.

What happened when the Patsies played the last game that mattered(Supreme Super Bowl CHOKE job....againt the G-men)....TOM "terrific"proved to be a mere MORTAL and that consecutive game winning streak went into the proverbial DUMPSTER-and MOST of America rejoiced!!! Heck i was at the Cheesecake Factory watching the game with a lady friend and NOT ONE fan was cheering for the Patsies.....We can't STAND Cheating belichek....the bar erupted when the Giants scored the winning td....doesn't that tell you something?....

What the article writer failed to mention is that the Patsies chowda head faithful get HOSED by their owner Robert Kraft with the Most EXPENSIVE seats in the NFL and everything that is associated with his team...this coming from a man who used to be "thrifty" and sit in the cheap seats-when he was just a "fan"-and he had to Pay for his own seat!!!....like the Bob Dylan songs says"times they are a changin"-lol:O)

Why would he mention that? It's completely irrelevant to the topic of the article.

What's wrong... still upset about the Tuck Rule? Don't worry about it man... your team was a bunch of losers anyway. If they really deserved to win, then they wouldn't have choked away that game.

Last time i looked it was YOUR team that CHOKED in the BIGGEST game of their Franchise HISTORY!!!.We kept HEARING from the media how the Pats were a "team of destiny" and in many peoples minds the chowda heads were gonna make NFL history and the Giants were merely a after thought/footnote.They Conveniently glossed over the fact that Belichek has ALWAYS been a cheater....hiding behind that cheap looking hoodie like some HIGH School geek!!Talk about being PARANOID.....then after the game YOUR coach-the face of your franchise- LEAVES the field before time expires_sprints towards the locker room and won't EVEN shake the hand of Tom Caughlin....that showed a LACK of Class/sportsmanship-but hey that's YOUR coach-should we EXPECT anything less-kinda childish ya think!!-like a litle kid that picks up his toys and runs home because he doesn't get his way!!-lol:O)What people remember the MOST about YOUR team is that they LOST the BIGGEST game of Their franchise history!!! All season long when the Patsies were winning their games( especially in the weakest nfl division-the AFC east)we kept hearing about how GREAT they are...patsies fans from Boston_where else- kept talking endless SMACK about how THEIR team was gonna make History....When the chowda heads CHOKED and lost to the gmen-NOT ONE Pats fan called in to JT the Bricks NATIONAL radio show-it was PRICELESS....Sure my Raiders suck....i will admit that-but its Patriots fans that give OUR Raiders so much grief-we don't hear it from ANY other NFL fans except the chowda head fans....talk about CHOKING how about your Bruins and Celts.?..they both CHOKED their way out of the playoffs a few days apart...why no articles on that?

interesting piece. terrible qb play kept us down on this list. few teams have had as much success on UDFA's as the Ravens. One of ours even got big money from the Pats (Ad. Thomas)

Your random CAPITALIZATION of occasional WORDS does not MAKE you any more RIGHT. You are STILL wrong.

They didn't choke. The Giants just made a once in a lifetime play that they couldn't make again if you gave them 100 times. The Giants matched up well against the Patriots (as we saw in week 17), and they played better that day.

p.s. anyone who listens to JT the Brick is a douche anyway, so I don't give a damn who did or didn't call that show.

p.p.s. Tuck rule. Suck it.

Why are you repeating yourself? What's the point? Don't you think I saw that the first time? In fact, I even responded to it. Can you read? The only reason I ask is because you're a Raiders fan, and I know a lot of you aren't too bright. What's the deal?

Talking about CHOKERS how about the 46-10 butt kicking the Patsies took against the Chicago Bears in 1985......in the Super Bowl.....it sounds like the Chicago Bears CONTINOUSLY made ONCE in a lifetime plays against the chowda heads(all GAME LONG)...."Frig "Perry even bowled the Patsies over(like a bowling ball) when he barreled in for a td.....EVERYTIME Chicago the BEARS Punched in a td the sportsbar i was at in Ft lauderdale, fla went BONKERS!!!!!The Pats were like peg leg Pete in a TAIL Kickin contest!!!-lmao:O)

I'm just throwin this out there, but aren't all teams mostly remembered how they lost their biggest games in franchise history? I mean that's how I remember the Patriots and Raiders Playoff Game, that was a shame wasn't it

"You want respect go out and have the Pats win another Super Bowl."

And statements like these are why everyone hates Raiders fans. Even as they suck from the scum at the bottom of the pool, they talk trash to the people swimming up top... and it doesn't even make sense.

Well Jt the Brick doesn't sugar coat things-he tells it the way he sees it....he's not like Bob Ryan or Peter Gammons-homers.It's sounds VERY provincial if the local Boston area writers keep kissing the keisters of the Boston teams-but if they are critical they MIGHT NOT get their choice seats at the sporting venues. That CANNOT happen. It used to be that sports writers/editors were more critical in earlier times-now that there is so MUCH MORE invested in these pro teams and Critical criticism seems to be a dying art.Just because i want to hear differing views and discern the ideas myself/ and other fans are douches? do you know how RIDICULOUS that sounds..?

Dude, I hate the Patriots and I still just want you to shut up. I don't understand why you're always capitalizing random words. It doesn't even have anything to do with you being a Raiders fan, you just sound like an angry moron.

The Patriots are definitely the best team of the past five years, and certainly of the decade. Have any other teams won 3 Super Bowls in the same time span? No? Then it's a pretty safe bet to say that they're the best, even if they apparently choked in the franchise's "biggest game ever." First off, I'm not sure they choked; the Giants played a good game and had a once-in-a-lifetime play. Second, how is it their biggest game ever? Because they could have gone undefeated? Do you think the Giants valued their Super Bowl win any less because they didn't finish 19-0? I think the Pats and their fans are just fine with 3 Super Bowl victories in the past ten years.

Please, save us all from having to listen to any more of your idiocy.

In the Patriots defense, we are talking about the best team in NFL history.  The 85 Bears would stomp any one of the Patriots teams that have dominated this decade as well.

JT the Brick is a Raiders fan. So that "differing views" argument goes right out the window, since you're a Raiders fan too.

And please... tell me... what should Boston sportswriters criticize right now? Should they criticize the Celtics, who just won a championship, and might have won another one if KG hadn't gotten hurt? Should they criticize the Bruins, who just had their best season in 20 years? Or should they criticize the Patriots, who everyone agrees is the best team of this decade? Should they criticize the Red Sox, who have won 2 World Series in the past 5 years?

The reason JT criticizes the Raiders is because they suck. They're a terrible football team, and are incredibly poorly managed. The Boston sports teams, on the other hand, are doing pretty well right now. If you want to criticize success, then go ahead. But it seems kind of ridiculous.

p.s. No, the Patriots didn't make the playoffs last year. But they DID finish tied for first in their division, and their starting QB was out for nearly the entire year. Some guy named Brady... you have have heard of him... he has torched your Raiders quite a few times.

Nice to see the numbers...of course the money did not make the win but it helps spread the load. Oakland and Detroit fans should cherish their wins because they cost a mint.

How many Superbowls and post seasons do the Pats have to visit before they can get 'respect'? I'm not sure the franchise in Oakland know how spell "EXCELLENCE" let alone "COMMITMENT"

Well perhaps not the last 20 years, but the whole of the Salary Cap era gives you some real perspective.  However it's clear that well managed teams, rather unsurprisingly, get more bang for their bucks.

hey dude,
big deal your team was tied for first-the Bottom line is that they didn't make the playoffs...other teams could claim the same thing-if we didin't have a key player hurt we could have made the playoffs-Lame excuse....i am sure Alot of people were Elated the Patsies didn't make the playoffs-because we are SICK of them.....from owner down to waterboy, groundskeeper!! Noone i know at the sportsbar i go to(quite a few people) were shedding any tears when Tom terrific got hurt-the Whole bar cheered!!!!

Wow... congrats. You go to a sports bar with nothing but the bottom-feeders of society, who like to watch other human beings suffer injuries that threaten their long-term well-being and their ability to make a living. You should be proud.

For the record, that's your last douchey comment. Your insults and idiocy has no place here. Your attack on toga boy is getting deleted, and any further attacks will be deleted as well. Have a nice day, and try to stop making yourself look like... well... a typical Raiders fan.

hey,
i didn't see anyone shedding ANY tears for Rich Gannon when that tub of lard Tony Saragusa landed on him and SLAMMED him on the ground(to take him out of the game)-in the AFC championship game he threw his 300 plus lbs on Gannon's arm...he was a real douche....then Saragusa complains he was fined 10,000 for it, he wined, didn't think that was right, kick him out of the game!!! But hey it happened to a Oakland Raider player so sportsfans will look the OTHER way and PRETEND it didn't happen-what a JOKE!! Btw-Tony Saragusa says that his Whole life that he as a defensive player his Job is to take the QB out of the game.He has been coached that since Pop Warner days....this isn't a foreign concept in football....and for the record there were only 3 Oakland Raiders fans in that HUGE sportsbar that day and we were in disbelief when Brady got HURT-EVERYONE else was cheering for OTHER teams-the Cheering on the Brady play by the other fans is how i knew Brady got hurt....so its not like its a big Raiders vs Brady conspiracy....i was Surprised when the OTHER sports fans cheered...that when i looked over and noticed that Brady was hurt....kinda shocked actually...
I know how Patriots fans are.My brother in law is from dorchester(inner city Boston) so i have a pretty good idea on how Patsies fan act-his whole life is sports and he is a Die Hard Boston fan....you don't think he has been talking Smack? When the Patriots were winning Super bowls he was pretty arrogant, pompous and condescending-i remained silent and said nothing.I hardly talk sports to him anymore.I got sick of hearing about it and stayed away from him when a sporting event was on.This went on for YEARS.....Now that the Patriots are struggling a little(like when the Dolphins ran that wildcat offense and handily beat the Patsies at Gillette last year, and people were filling out of the stadium by mid 4th quarter)don't you think i enjoyed that upset for a few hours after All the crap i have heard from him for years? That loss at Gillette kept the Patriots from making the playoffs.

My brother in-law (from boston) was arrogant, pompous and condescending when the Patriots were winning Super Bowls. This went on for years.I didn't even watch sporting events with him.I didn't even talk sports with him(hardly). Then last year after Brady got hurt and were struggling,Miami ran the wildcat offense at Gillette and handily beat the Patsies(with a gimmick offense). Patriots fans were leaving Gillette by the middle of the fourth quarter.I saw that game at the sportsbar.I didn't say one word to him about that game-never was mentioned.I didn't want to upset him or not be welcome at his house. My family is MORE important to me than a silly stupid game...why have friction over something small as that?

Last time i checked the  Boston Red Sox couldn't even beat the Tampa Bay Rays last year to defend their World Series title. The Rays only won ONE game against the Philadelphia Phillies in the World Series. What does that say about the Red Sox?That dynasty was short lived wasn't it?lol...Bruins had their best season in 20 years-thats ALOTof mediocre hockey my friend.Last time i looked the Dolphins won the AFC east( last year)-not the Patsies-sure they lost in the first round of the playoffs-but they Won the afc east for the first time in awhile.
This is NOT a personal attack against you Pat but your stating facts about sports and i am being factual.Have the Boston teams done well-sure they have-you have something to be PROUD of....
My Raiders have stunk up the joint for 25 years...AD is a terrible owner-he spends the money but he wants complete control and meddles-who would want to work for him?.Do Raider fans live in the past-sure we do...but EVERY year we have hope that our team will do a little better-drafts,trades etc....a TRUE fan-hopefully you are with the Pats(Pat)sticks with their teams-good and the bad.I am critical of AD...But he is OBSESSED with making the raiders the very best team that he can....we need stability with our head coach-i like Tom cable-more than Lane Kiffin...The Raiders are the complete opposite of the Patriots....we are envious sure-who wouldn't be.
AS  Raider fans we are almost subjected to DAILY criticism about EVERYTHING associated with the Raiders-the receiver heyword bey , AD and the like....from fans of other NFL teams, and the media...AD walks with a walker and isn't in the best of shape....he has very little time left in his life.....i don't hear the media attacking Bills owner Ralph Wilson-and his Bills team lost FOUR staright Super bowls and been irrelevant EVER since....even the Detroit lLons don't get skewered as bad as AD......I am sick and tired of the raiders bashing...how would you feel if we Daily bashed EVERYThing about the Patriots organization? The Patriots were pretty bad/medicre for Alot of years when Billy Sullivan owned the team.
