New York Rangers sign Marian Gaborik from Minnesota Wild
Oft-injured Marian Gaborik is no longer the Wild's problem, after signing with the Rangers for 5 years and $37M

The Rangers have signed Marian Gaborik to a 5 year deal worth $7.5M per year. He's one of the more talented forwards in the league... when he managed to stay on the ice. He has only played more than 65 games once in the past 5 years.

Yet another suspect deal for the Rangers. Bought talent rarely works the way home grown and drafted talent does. Look at Detroit, draft well, develop and fill holes with free agents and trades. NYR take the complete opposite route signing and trading for anyone who had a good year seemingly without any concern to team chemistry or make up.........

They need Marion because last year I watched them and they couldn't score any goals.

Also you can't make king Henrik post up a shutout every game.

Thing is, he's soft as butter and injury prone so they're unlikely to have him for a full 82 games never mind the playoffs, so even if he has a great year and scores every other game he;s likely only good for 25 goals since he'll likely only play 50 games. They need guys who can be solid 2 and 3 liners who can give you some offensive output but at the same time provide grit and guts for a team that sorely lacks it. It's a shame a goalie as good as theirs has to stop 40 shots a game for them to have a chance.

Gaborik's a 60-70 point a year guy when healthy.. I'm not so sure that's worth $7.5M/yr, but then again the Rangers like giving 2nd line players over $7M/yr  contracts, that's kind of their thing recently

Let's see, Glen Sather gives another inflated contract for an injury prone scorer and they haven't advanced past the second round in his tenure.  Tell me again, how does this guy keep his job?

Because he's one hell of a goal scorer!

but he's not. He's a middle of the road little guy, nothing more, nothing less........... $7.5M is a joke............

They finally got rid of him, its time to move on. A new coach,gm, and draft picks. It nice to see a change.

I am a Ranger fan I am not too thrilled with this unless he stays healthy all season.  He is Mr. Hurt... With Nasland retired they could of gone after Heatley if you want goal production.

If he is healthy and that is a big IF then he is going to be a powerhouse in a very difficult division in the league.  My concern is that he isn't going to sit most of the season for some injury
