Oregon headed to the Rose Bowl

If you had asked me how the Oregon Ducks would do this season after they lost at Boise St. in their first game, and lost LeGarrette Blount for the majority of the year because he punched a dude, combined with it being Chip Kelly's first season as head coach, I would have said this team was dead. Probably a 6-6 team at best.

How wrong I was. This team got rid of a cancer in Blount, discovered super redshirt freshman LaMichael James and found - in my opinion - the coach of the year in Chip Kelly.

Oregon managed to sneak past Oregon St. 37-34 in the biggest game in Civil War history. Over 100 years to this rivalry, and never had this game come down to deciding who would go to the Rose Bowl - until Thursday night.

And I might be being a bit hard on Blount, he did make remorseful reparations for his punch, stuck with the team even through his suspension, and did not quit. And at least the karma gods smiled on Chip Kelly for making a non-Urban Meyer type decision with Blount by rewarding him with James - who was the real star of Thursday's game with his three TD runs and 166 yards rushing.

Now do us all a favor Oregon, and lay waste to Ohio State.
