Packers maintenance employee fired after talking trash to Mike McCarthy
Talk smack to Mike McCarthy? That's a firing.

Depending on who you believe, former Packers maintenance worker Mike Wood was either encouraging coach Mike McCarthy, or talking trash to him. Either way, it got him fired. McCarthy says that he had no hand in it, but it appears to be untrue, based on his comments.

Wood says that he said "get the boys ready to kick some butt this weekend." Clearly, he said something a little different... or at the very least, McCarthy thought he said something else.

When asked about it, McCarthy said "it's not the worst thing that's been said, but I would not say it to a fellow employee." Some people believe that he said "don't lay an egg this weekend".

Either way... was it really that bad of an offense? Especially for a guy who had worked for the team for 22 years? If anything McCarthy probably needed a little goading.

I would like to think an organization like the Packers wouldn't let this happen. 22 years of service should count for something. Unless Wood said something very offensive. I'm sure pplayers and coaches say some pretty terrible things during games and/or practices. At this point he is justfied with saying "don't lay an egg".

Is it me, or did Packers Management bamboozled Wood?

Modeling yourself after the Raiders and Browns tends to not lead to success.  And to think, we're supposed to be one of the stable franchises.

At this point for Packer fans who wish Bad things on Brett. As it turns out the worst thing they could have done is kept him on the team so he could have taken the punishment that Rodgers has so far. There is no way Brett could have helped this team very much this season. This team has alot more glaring holes it in. But QB is not one of them.

That is completely insane.  The Packers organization should be ashamed of themselves for firing a guy for trying to fire up the coach of his team.  I guess 22 years don't amount to a hill of crap anymore, huh?

*NOTE* I just got an E-Mail from Ted Thompson; I've been fired from the Packers organization, even though I don't work for them.

Not good.  You take a middle-aged who has devoted his life to the Packers and throw him out for that.  Somebody needed to take a deep breath, ask the guy to apologize to McCarthy and move on.
