Pat Tillman Regretted Enlisting In The Army, New Book Reveals
Pat Tillman was a reluctant soldier who disagreed with the Bush administration’s war policies and wasn’t afraid to say so, according to a new book by Jon Krakauer, who reexamines the life and tragic death of the former Arizona Cardinals safety.

I am a soldier myself and Tillman will always be remembered as a Hero. No matter how it happend he still served our wonderful country. Only 1% of the nation serve in the service and he gave up a huge contract to serve his country. GOD AN COUNTRY!

Krakauer also states that the death was pointless and meaningless. I don;t want to turn this into a political thread, and you can argue over Iraq all you want, but in regards to Tillman and Afghanistan, Krakauer is simply wrong

Sometimes when someone has died...other people write a book for them or about em; and take other peoples words or a note here and there and use that.  When again it might not be the whole truth, the whole story, the whole tell behind what was to have been told by that person them self.  He isn't here.  So,I twill take all this with a grain of salt.

Reluctant soldiers dont become Rangers. Pat Tillman regretted being a good soldier about as much as he regretted being a good football player..lets not tarnish  this mans service to his country for profit but honor  him for his courage and leadership

The 2/75th will always be a part of me, that being said protocols up the wazoo were violated in that engagement and though I have never met, and doubt that I will meet a reluctant Ranger  Sua Ponte!, I have known, and still speak with, many soldiers who have doubts about both the tactical and strategic wisdom of their superiors.

There is a on oath I took and I am a brother to all those who ever have and ever will and take part in the oath:

"I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to the regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God"

I knew that while I was bound by my oath to never allow any doubts about the orders received or their source to interfere with my mission focus.  A friend of mine had to write "The Letter" regarding SPC Phil Lear and we talked, and he made it clear he felt unable to convey in words what he wished to tell and I said just tell them he died a Ranger and a hero. Sua Ponte

Do NOT dishonour the memory of Pat Tillman to facilitate your own political desires.

No doubt Jon Krakauer will make a lot of money from this despicable rag attributed to those who will use it without any consideration of the truth, but that's the virtue of integrity is oft times sacrificed for the almighty dollar in a politically polarized, capitalist society.

Pat Tillman gave up a life of luxury, and a game he loved playing to voluntarily enlist.  How any idiot can dishonour his memory to slander him in this way is almost beyond belief--then again, considering the sanctimonious and indignant nature of modern culture, I should know better than to be surprised.

Dude is a major league assclown!  Not only does he besmirch the memory of Pat Tillman, but this pantywaste was never in the military and the idea of serving his country is repugnant to him.  Hey, Krakauer.......The People's Paradise of Cuba is only 90 mmiles off our coast.  Do the country a favor and get the HELL out!

Because I respect and honour the memorry of Pat Tillman, I had to read that response twice as well.....Vantiffin52 was referring to the guy who wrote the book.
