Philadelphia Flyers make a pair of blockbuster deals

 Just a day before the 2011 NHL draft, the Philadelphia Flyers have traded away their captain Mike Richards and Jeff Carter in separate deals.

Richards was dealt to the Los Angeles Kings for Wayne Simmonds and highly touted prospect Brayden Schenn.  Carter was sent to Columbus in exchange for Jakub Voracek and a 1st and 3rd round pick in the 2011 draft.

The moves free up enough money for the Flyers to make a serious run at signing Ilya Brzygalov, whose rights Philly acquired earlier this summer
