Pittsburgh Penguins Evgeni Malkin out 2 weeks.
READ MORE:
Pittsburgh Penguins head coach Dan Bylsma announced earlier today that Evgeni Malkin will be out about 2 weeks with a shoulder strain. It seems Malkin has been playing with the injury for 3 games or so.

It looks to be a precautionary move to not further the injury this early in the season. Had this been a playoff push or the playoffs he more than likely would suit up and play.

This makes perfect sense with how well the team has played so far this season. Let Geno heal up. The Pens will need him more later than now.

I think this is a damn smart move on their part considering he is so good - give him the rest he needs so he can be healthy later on. Glad to see them do this.

Wise decision Bylsma! Rest him til he's 100%, then put him out on the ice. Its better to be safe than sorry.

Good thing too. Seems smart now that they kept Jordan Staal as well.

They should be okay in his absence.  Nobody will be able to replace him while he's out, but they've played through the adversity before.

Get our first chance to see how well they play without him. Back-to-Back games this weekend starting tonight in Columbus.
