Portland Trail Blazers will look to acquire Knick David Lee this offseason
Looks like the Portland Trail Blazers are going to make a strong push to try and snag restricted free agent, rebounding machine David Lee this offseason.
The Portland Trail Blazers have been involved in a lot of offseason trade and free agent discussions. The latest news is that the Blazers will be going hard for restricted free agent David Lee, who averaged 16 points and 11.7 rebounds this last season with the Knicks.

It's entirely possible Lee commands a yearly paycheck in the $10 million-per range, so the Blazers wouldn't have the chance to get him without giving a little in return. They have some cap space to work with, but probably not enough to land Lee flat out. It could help that the Knicks have eyes for Segio Rodriguez, a player Portland would part with.

So the Knicks are getting rid of one of the two talents left on that team? Man, they better hope the summer of 2010 works out.

As for the Blazers, Grandpa Oden not looking so good anymore, huh?

A trade for Sergio Rodriguez wouldn't be a bad move for the Knicks.  D'Antoni could turn him into a good PG.

There are a lot of rumors out there that the Knicks will move up to #2 in the draft and take Rubio, so if they do that, this might not happen.

I think if I could get Rodgriguez for a guy who probably wants out, I'd keep the 8th pick and take another guy to plug into D'Antoni's system or even trade down and pick up Austin Daye or Wayne Ellington.

Lee would be a great pickup for Portland too. I think he fits that system better than the one he's in in NY now.

He sucks.  Seriously.  D. Lee is boss I could use some Gator love.  Living here in Portland David Lee will not plug the center and mean NBA finals.  Blazers need a power player who can play with his back to the basket i.e. Boozer.  That said he will help out since Oden can't get right but since there's a log jam at F dumping Sergio and a forward or 2 for a couple of players would be nice.

Let me say this again Sergio Rodriguez isn't that dope they really don't care for him they are more about Bayless.

The Blazers should look for more experience than David Lee to couple with their young group. Why not go for a low-cost vet, someone like an Ilgauskas if he opts out, or look to trade with the Clippers for one of their big-men that becomes expendable soon as they draft Blake Griffin? They probably could get a player like Marcus Camby for next to nothing, that kind of physical presence is what they lack. Besides, don't they have enough young talent already to throw another one into the mix in David Lee?

Actually, they need to look at moving old-man Oden if they really think he's not going to work out before he gets some career-ending injury while tying his shoes or something, at least he has some trade value at the moment...

Oden won't go anywhere they like him a lot here.  They aren't hot on Sergio he's the one that'll get das boot.  They need vet players at the point more so then in the middle.  They just need someone who can score in the paint and play with moves with his back to the bucket.  Pryz and Oden have no O game unless it's a dunk NONE, I've literally seen a ball get passed into Pryz on the block him turn and pass it right out.

D'antoni needs to find his point. His whole system is dependant upon the PG.

Rodriguez's problem is that he is a European PG stuck in a slow offense.  Its just not a good match.  With D'Antoni, he'd have a chance to flourish.
