Questions abound about whether Redskins ignored Rooney rule over hiring of Bruce Allen
As some of you might know, the Redskins got rid of white guy GM Vinny Cerrato this week and then immediately replaced him with white guy Bruce Allen. If you're familiar with the Rooney Rule, then you probably realize that what the Redskins did was basically totally against league policy, since you have to at least interview a minority candidate for jobs.
The good news for the Redskins though is that white guy commissioner Roger Goodell says the team did nothing wrong! Apparently somewhere in between the 30 seconds after they fired Cerrato and hired Allen, they text messaged a minority candidate or something. And I guess that was cool with Goodell or whatever.
Anyway, one can debate forever whether or not the Rooney Rule makes sense or not, but since it's still a rule, it sure looks like the Redskins completely ignored it or took it about as unseriously as humanly possible. Naturally, that troubles some people.
In other news, I'm also still trying to figure out how in the hell an NFL team is named the Redskins, which is like naming a team the Wops or the Slant Eyes.
Keep up the great racial diversity, you red-skinned savages!
