Raiders blacked out for the 2nd time this season
Shocking news: The Raiders suck, and no one wants to watch them. For the second time, they're getting blacked out.

Local Oakland fans, if there are any left at this point, won't be able to watch the Raiders on TV this week, if they are within 75 miles of the stadium. This is their second blackout in 3 home games due to the stadium not being sold out within 72 hours of the game.

No one should be surprised at this point, since the team is as bad as any team in the league, but it's a shame that this once-proud franchise has sunk to these depths.

if the raiders lose and no one watches the game, is it still a loss?

I'm not surprised the Raiders aren't selling out. They are terrible right now. I am surprised that the Cincinnati Bengals were having trouble selling out their game against the Houston Texans this week. Not sure if they made the 72 hour deadline or not. You would think a first place team with face value tickets available would be able to sell out.

I have always thought the blackout policy was nuts!  Who cares if the Raiders are blocked out....there are other teams to watch - plus who wants to sit and watch in the hot sun and watch this team not EVEN put any effort into the game.  And believe it or not, I like the Raiders.  I think the coaching staff needs to be replaced and the players are out of shape (Over paid and under achieved). But all in all, I still like the team

I'm actually excited for the infomercials that will fill this time slot now. Way better than Raiders football.

I can feel for the raiders fans.I am a colts fan there have been many home games blacked out here also then the owners wonder why there is no support for the team, when you black out the games.I live 40 miles away if your team is going through a ruff time the worse thing to do is black out the game no support go figure!!!Hey AL Davis are you still part owner out there it is not 1970 any more????

It seems the Bengals were able to sell out with the help of ochocinco and Motorolla. It's still a shame that a first place team has to resort to this to get a sell out.

The Blackout Rule is straight-up evil.  I love the NFL and all, but everything about it is so overpriced.  But if you can't afford to watch it in person, then they're not going to let you watch it on TV?

Although it's another evil, how do corporate sponsors feel about this?  Their commercials that run during games cost quite a bit, and now they're not going to be showed?

It's all about the money, folks. The cable and satelite companys that sell the NFL package go "Cha-Ching!" every time a pissed off fan of a blacked out team buys the package. Those expensive commercials still run and still get seem by millions of viewers.
