Rampage Jackson complains about the Lyoto Machida vs Mauricio 'Shogun' Rua decision
Rampage's beef is that he feels like he beat Forrest Griffin in their title fight just as badly as Machida "beat" Rua in theirs.
"I felt like I beat him that night and I have the judges to thank for that costing me my belt. I watched the fights at the weekend and heard someone say, ‘To win the title you gotta BEAT the champ’. Well that didn’t happen when I fought Forrest."
I agree with Rampage, in the sense that it is a bit inconsistent. However, the idea that you somehow have to win title fights more convincingly than other fights is laughable. The 10-point must scoring system really doesn't leave that much room for subjectivity. If a fighter wins the fight, then he wins the fight. It's hard to really understand the concept that a fighter could lose, but still keep his belt, because people weren't convinced enough.
But hey... there's always a solution for you, Rampage. If you really have a problem, then why don't you fight about it? Come out of retirement, fight Machida, and take back your belt. If you can, that is.
