Rasheed Wallace commits to signing with the Boston Celtics
The rich get richer: Rasheed Wallace has reportedly agreed to sign with the Celtics
53
According to sources, Rasheed Wallace has agreed to sign with the Boston Celtics. The deal is reportedly a 2-year deal at the mid-level exception.

The deal should definitely give the Celtics a great chance to finish at the top of the Eastern Conference once again, and possibly allow them to win another title, if everyone can stay healthy.

Hasn't this already been tried before?

From what I recall, that didn't work out too well. I'm thinking the same thing is going to happen in Boston.

Let's seeeee, Rasheed Wallace, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce.... the Big Three just became the Big 4! Pull out the oxygen tanks!!!! AARP discounts for everyone! Seriously the maybe old but if healthy they are gonna kick some serious butt next season. Go Green!

Yeah! This is really is a great news!

I know Rasheed is not always the most popular player, but this is a steal for the Celtics.  His Blazers nearly beat Shaq and Kobe during their great Laker run.  He's a big-time talent who plays his best. under pressure.

The old big four and the one younger guy, if is general manger is not stupid.

Smart move by the Celtics. I think he adds a lot, especially if Garnett gets injured. He has shown his attitude isn't a problem in the right environment.

And just like that the Celtics are back into the NBA Finals.

Allen>03-04 Payton
Sheed>03-04 Malone
Garnett (healthy), Perkins better combo than 03-04Shaq
Pierce outduled Kobe and is the self proclaimed best player in the NBA
plus Rondo running the court and Eddie House and Big Baby off the bench.

I'd take these Celtics any day over those Lakers because they play D. I really see them in the finals, beating the Magic in the Eastern Conference Finals.

not that this is a fair comparison, i cant really get away with Pierce outduled Kobe and says hes better, but im just sayin, Celtics back in the finals again with a shot to win another title

thats great news for any celtics fan.Sheed's addition to the team can create match-up problems to the opposing team

Good point, but different scenario.  The Big 3 have played 2 seasons together and you're just adding another unselfish team player w/ Rasheed(minus his technicals).  Here Kobe and Shaq are feuding so they bring in 2 hall-of-famers desperate to win a championship, and expect it to just work... and it didn't...  If all 3 or 4 can stay healthy for the celts they will most likely be in the eastern confernce championship with the Cavs..

All I have to say about this is that I'm going to miss Rasheed Wallace in Detroit.  I only used to watch the Pistons until stupid Joe Dumars traded Billups, so I started watching Denver.  Now I guess I'll also be watching Boston too, just to see Sheed play.  It is going to be another sad year to see another great player get pushed to the side like he's not needed.  When Ben Wallace left, it was different because he left for money, and in Chauncey and Rasheeds' case, it was different.  We will miss you Sheed in Detroit.  I also have a feeling that Joe probably is going to trade Rip soon too.  You really don't know what to expect from him.  It's like he has lost his mind!  THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAD DAY FOR ME!

The Cavs are done for.  They are nowhere near as good as the Celtics, Lakers, or Spurs, and still don't have the athletic wingman to defend against the Magic (outside of LeBron, who they need to depend on for offense).  That and the Nuggets are probably better too.  The Cavs will have the biggest starpower this year, but they're only the 6th best team.

This season is getting better and better with these smart trades so far. Boston just jumped in to the Final Four in my book with LA, Cleveland, Boston and SA.

I think that they better get to that numerology and celtica majik (magic). We have to wait to see if a mesh is possible with all the EGO. Celts players need to have a PointGaurd that is??

Good pickup for boston!!   But please all you ''passionate'' celtics fans stop going overboard with the enthusiasm!! this move maybe brings the Celts'  even with the Cavs and magic,  thers's gonna be a hellava fight in the east next year!!

Dang it Pistons, just when we finish the season and the Detroit fans get hopeful for next season, you do something else STUPID.  This just isn't happening, ugh.  I felt the same way you did after Chauncey was traded. He was SO well respected in Detroit.

Let me fix this mistake, the reason he got shipped out of Portland was cause it wasn't "his team".  He didn't want to be the "man" hence why he fit in so well in Detroit.

On to other things I don't know if they are a pencil in for the title cause it's a year later and their bodies are a year older.  KG get hurt again and I don't know if they will be able to stand him going out, don't think Pierce is getting any younger and Rondo might be gone since they trying to trade him.  It'll be an interesting season.

Btw I don't compare this to the Big 4 in Boston at all.  Payton and Malone were WAY past their prime, KG, Pierce, Jesus, and Sheed are all around or a little past their prime.

Rasheed, like Artest, needs stability and a really good coach to play at his best, he'll find both in Boston.  This should be a great move.

The NBA's AARP team! The starting line-up will be 157 years old when the season begins!

Without an amazing Lakers 4th quarter comeback, Rasheed would have won a championship in Portland, so it couldn't have been all bad.  When you add in his Detroit years, I would love to have him on my team.

All things being fair, I'd say it would depend on seeding right now.  I still don't think the Cavs can match up with Orlando.

Just read on ESPN Rumors that Glen "Big Baby" Davis is close to going to San Antonio. With Boston signing Sheed, Boston doesn't need him. We'll see what happens on that. Now the Spurs could still tweak some other roster spots for Lamar Odom, since LA told him directly they aren't paying him big bucks.

I called them a darkhorse in the playoff thread.  That said, not many people were counting on them.

Not really this could be a one time first year shot in NBA History to have a complimentary group of player's on the same official team outside of an all star team. To make a run and win an NBA Championship with the first season together as a team.

The Celtics are reportedly looking to sign Grant Hill as well, and are starting to look more like this Lakers squad.
