Richard Hamilton could be traded to the Utah Jazz for Carlos Boozer
With Ben Gordon now a Piston, Rip Hamilton might be shipped out to Utah to bring Carlos Boozer to town.
The Allen Iverson/Rip Hamilton experiment in Detroit didn't work very well, and with Ben Gordon now in town, who jacks up about as many shots as Iverson, there's a lot of talk that the Pistons are going to ship Rip to Utah for Carlos Boozer.

Would this be a good trade for either team? I'd think if the Pistons can do this, adding Boozer would be a huge boost.

I like it for Detroit a lot. But can they get him to sign an extension?

I believe so. The original thought was Boozer was going to opt out of his contract and then sign with the Pistons. He re-upped (I would assume) so he can cash in when the class of 2010 A guys set the bar ridiculously high, then he comes in as a top-flight B guy. As long as the Pistons give him about what he expects, he'll get signed to an extension. But then, Boozer has definitely been one of those shifty players over the years, in terms of getting his loot, so you never know.

I've said it before but if Detroit makes this move it would seriously shift the power of NBA Conferences from West to East. Boy, next year has the potential to be something big!!

Boozer is 18 and 8 for the Pistons if they do get him, Gordon is even streakier than Hamilton and I believe Dumars prefers to bring Gordon off the bench.  So I wonder about that part of all this.

Not sure how Rip Hamilton would fit in with the Jazz and their system, but Boozer would definitely be an upgrade in Detroit, where it's clear that times are changing.  Boozer is a defensive & rebounding upgrade for a team that just acquired 2 players who play little defense.  For Detroit, it would be a good move to bring in another solid guy whose contract would basically match what Hamilton's is in a likely extension.

As for Utah, they are doing some damage control here, knowing that Boozer will definitely bolt a year from now and they would get nothing.  Hamilton is still a solid guy, just doesn't seem like a system fit as the Jazz are currently constructed.  Maybe more moves are in store for the Jazz as well (whether or not this one happens of course), since they have many good pieces on that team, and not much to show for it right now in terms of playoff success.

It would be a good trade for the Pistons.

A potential 20-10 guy with a great attitude and a high I.Q.  for an aging, slow, 2-guard on the downside of his career? (No offense RIP!)  This trade is a no-brainer for the pistons and makes them legit' in the east again
