Rod Marinelli hired by Bears as assistant coach and defensive line coach
Rod Marinelli actually turned down two other teams before joining the Chciago Bears as their new assistant head coach and defensive line coach.
I'm not sure how, but Rod Marinelli has a job again. Even more astounding, he turned down two jobs before this. The NFL is totally incestuous.

this isn't a bad move at all. he's a good defensive coach who played under Tony Dungy in Tampa Bay for 10 seasons. you can't totally blame him for Detroit's season. he wasn't wearing a helmet.. nobody could've won a game with those guys.

this is another example of the friendship network that is what is part of the problem with the nfl, i know that he and lovie coached together at tampa, but he completely sucked as the coach of the lions, so what makes him a great line coach, what the bears need is a entirely new defensive scheme, how can a guy who when 0-16 possibly help

when it comes to coaching positions I guess its all about who you know, more then what you do in the NFL, this is proof even when you go 0-16 you can still find work...  just curious what that resume looks like

So his 10 years in Tampa when his DL led the NFL in sacks over that period of time doesn't count ....just that he went 0-16 last year?

the nfl is notorious for being a what have you done for me lately, look at shannahan, all the glory and stability he brought to that franchise, an offensive genius, done a lot with not much, and he got canned, a guy with that much defensive experience, and yet his teams defense outside of the rogers on the d-line nothing much to brag about, the bears need a scheme, much like rivera had in place, the line is only one piece of the puzzle, the bears secondary should have been called 4 pieces of toast, everybody got burned
