if Scott Rolen had the brains to say that he was hurt and couldn't play... why doesn't Jim Edmonds? Which is better... sitting out when the team needs you or playing hurt and not being able to perform at 100%

I bet you 99.9% of the players left in the postseason have some type of injury that they are playing through.  The baseball season is long, and injuries are very common.  For the most part, baseball players are gamers and they want to play everyday, especially when its on a team with such a great fanbase like the Cardinals.  Also, you must remember that this is the NLCS and only 4 teams make it this far each year.  In Edmonds case, this could very well be his last chance depending on what happens in the offseason.  He has alot riding on how he performs in the playoffs.
