The Royals have reportedly hired one of the possible option for the Yankees job, Trey Hillman, from the Japanese Pacific League.

The Royals have reached a multi-year deal with Trey Hillman to become their next manager, The Kansas City Star has learned.

Hillman, 44, is completing his fifth year as manager of the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters in the Japanese Pacific League. The Fighters returned Thursday to the Japanese World Series in their quest to repeat as champions.
