In another wise move (sarcasm intended) by some in the NFL Player's Association, there are rumors floating about of a player's walkout during the post-season to encourage the owners to get a bit more serious in their negotiations over a new CBA.  Of course, any form of player walkout or owner lockout is prohibited by the current CBA (which runs through the end of next season) and would likely be met with all kinds of legal action and damage awards, as well as the bad public relations it would garner, but hey, the players will not be ignored!

Personally, I'd like to see a bit more protection of the player's health (current and long-term) added into the next CBA but, beyond that, I see this as the desperate thought of rich guys who simply want to get even richer.  What does the Q think?

If they do, I'm opening a fan page to initiate a fan strike....  Every time those bitchy millionaires (players / owner) start fighting over money, it's the fans that take it in the shorts.

if the NFL does get locked out.....the worst part is that I would be forced to watch the UFL.

If the N.F.L goes on strike or there is a lockout. The football franchises will drop  in price.and for a dollar extra you will be able to supersize your franchise:)

This must have been said by players on teams like the Lions,Raiders,Browns and Buccaneers. The players on teams that are going to the playoffs aren't giving up those extra paychecks without a fight.

Well I remember the last strike and really I'm not too worried. Football is football and I'll still watch even if it's a bunch of guys who were bagging groceries just last week. Heck it was kind of fun in a way.

New faces, new names, and a real desire to play the game.

i hope they don't - teh baseball strike a few years ago really turned me off to MLB. i still like to go to AA games, but my interest in MLB is really minimal. i hope the NFL doesn't kill it for me too.

No way they'll do that. I just can't see players that have a chance at a super bowl walking away from the game. Especially in a situation like New Orleans where it is pretty clear that the fans and citizens there would be so destroyed by their team walking. If all the players can't agree to it, they won't do it and I just don't think all the players would agree to this.

I don't think that it would happen either.  The players would upset just about all of the fans,  if they were to go on strike because of money issues, during this economy that would just enrage most fans.  One of the only things we go left is watching our football teams play to bring us some relief during these tough times.  But that is just my two cents.

Seriously doubt they would play the entire season to earn their spot in the playoff then not participate.

I love how they all "play for the love of the game." Funny how they seem to love all that money they are making more than anything.

Let them Strike. Scabs are people who'll work during a strike. We all know that there is a lot of undiscovered talent in America already. How 'bout this? As a professional Role Model Athlete- if you even think of Striking- then You're Terminated!

That is the beauty of having a union and representation.  Unlike in the construction industry where we don't have the right to strike anymore, I think there are still unions out there that do.  I haven't done all my research addmitedly but it seems like the sports unions have that right in their negotiated contracts.  This is their right that they bargained for.  Does it still irritate me that they want more money, you bet your a** it does.  In my IBEW local we had to fight to keep from LOSING pay and benefits.  As far as scabs go, all they are is another way for companies to hire cheap, inefficient, and unskilled people to do the same job but garbage results.  I don't blame those people that will fill the job, because its a job.  I blame the owners and all the white collar people for paying less wages for the same work.  Kind of different in this scenario, but I am a union man so I am just throwing some facts out there.
