Saints Coach Sean Payton shops "The Xbox Kid" to Hollywood
Saints coach Sean Payton is shopping a movie idea in Hollywood that's so stupid it just might work.
Saints coach Sean Payton is shopping a movie script in Hollywood that's so lame it'll probably get greenlit by tomorrow. Because Hollywood loves lame ideas.

Anyway, here's what it's about.

The movie, currently titled "The Xbox Kid," is about a boy from a poor family in New Orleans who starts controlling the outcome of NFL games through a refurbished Xbox given to him by his grandfather following a devastating hurricane.

Payton said the idea came to him when his son Connor would play upcoming Saints games on his Xbox during the 2006 season.

"I just wrote about four pages, piddling around with it," said Payton, who later turned the idea over to a professional screen writer to flesh it out.

Payton said he envisions the movie as both a sports film and an inspirational story about the city's recovery.

Well, I'm sure Xbox is excited about this idea.

Personally, I think the movie would be better if they added something about bookies who were trying to kill the kid for releasing betting tips to all his friends.

Shouldn't he be concerned more about his defense and run game? Your QB nearly broke Marino's passing record, and the Saints still went nowhere.

Didn't they already make a movie like this? I could swear I've heard this before....

I read a book with the same premise in grade school called "Ice Magic", with hockey instead of football, and one of those slot hockey games instead of X-Box. Yes this will get green lit immediately.

Its a stupid idea for a movie, not surprising from Payton and the city of New Orleans.

In the words of Isiah Thomas, "It's crazy enough that it just might work."

Matt Christopher is wondering why none of his books were ever turned into movies right now.

It could very possibly become a movie. After all, someone gave the green light to the movie "Glitter"
