If you follow any kind of racing at all, you've heard about the scandal in Singapore last season, involving Team Renault and Nelson Piquet Jr.
Nelson was ordered by the team to crash to benefit his team, and did so. Although he hasn't been "banned" from F1, he no longer has a ride, and his former owners received an indefinite suspension from the sport.
Whether Piquet could move into IRL hasn't been mentioned, likely because IRL can't find rides and sponsors for the drivers they already have.
Red Horse Racing, most famous this year for replacing defending Truck Series Champion, Johnny Benson, with Timothy Peters, has offered Piquet a chance to race in NASCAR.
At least Piquet is going about it in the right way, planning to spend a year in the Camping World Truck Series and another year in Nationwide before moving to the Sprint Cup Series in 2012.
