So much for Teixeira going to the Red Sox. Owner John Henry says they're no longer going to try and sign him.

It's all lies. I'm not buying it for a second. Scott "Satan" Boras is trying to bluff the Red Sox into thinking one of the other teams gave Teixeira a monster offer, and Tom Henry is calling his bluff. Watch him sign with the Sox for less than expected within a week.

I don't like the Sox.  I don't like the Tex.  And I don't like Satan.

It is unbelievably repulsive how much these guys are getting paid.  No club should pay these guys what they want.  They are paid like they are bigger than the game.  Sabathia's new deal is more per year than some other clubs' entire roster makes in a season.  Who is going to pay these salaries when people can't afford to go to the games?

Pro sports began to jump the shark when the drama began to center on the players instead of the competition.

Boras is a piece of crap and these all Athletes are just too damn greedy. I had just heard the red Sox looked like they would be the ones to get Tex. I would not even venture a guess, because Tex says he wants to play close to home and Boras wants to get a trillion $$$$$ along the raod to whatever team gets him. Logic would dictate he would want to go to a contender, but greed often is THE deciding factor. He would be wasting on The Nationals, and wouldn't improve Baltimore enough. I guess he didn't like playing for The Angels as much as I thought, but anything that comes out of Boras office is meaningless with regard to authenticity IMO

You know...I'm not sure Tex would be such a good fit in Beantown.
The Sox had a plan and I'm sure they are sticking to it. Much to Boras' chagrin.

I think Texiera is a decent player, but I don't think he is worth all this hype.  It would be a major mistake for him to go to the Nationals - they are nowhere close to being playoff material.  He is only looking to break the bank, just like most players these days he only cares about money.  It is ridiculous to give someone millions of dollars a year to play a game, in my opinion.

While I agree on the money aspect of things, can you tell me how you come to the conclusion that a gold glove first basemen who hits .300 30 hr's 115 rbi's, slugs b/w .550-.600, obp .380, ops 134, walks 97, more than he strikes out 93,every year,  is just decent?  Pujols is the only player better at the position.  Any team who signs Texiera is markedly improved.

i definitely think its lies as well, just keeping it covered up. I dont see how Teixiera could reject that much cash.

I am not saying he is not a good player, I said I didn't think he is worth the money he is after.  He doesn't hit .300 every year (or his career average would be higher than .290), strikes out over a 100 times every year,  and walks less than 80 times a year (on average) - check your stats.  He does not seem to come through in the clutch, either (I will find those stats as well).  Maybe I am spolied by Pujols, I don't know...
