Steve Largent rips Daniel Snyder, says that his friend Jim Zorn almost quit
Steve Largent is the latest to rip the Redskins. He directs his ire at Dan Snyder.

Jim Zorn and Steve Largent have been great friends, ever since they were a pretty solid QB-WR tandem in Seattle with the Seahawks. Now, Largent is sticking up for his much-maligned buddy, saying that the situation in Washington is all Dan Snyder's fault, and that Zorn almost quit when his play-calling privileges were stripped.

Here are Largent's comments:
"Yes, he did consider it, and no, he did not want to give up those responsibilities, but they went to the point of pulling out his contract and saying, 'You have got to do whatever the owner tells you to do.' But in my opinion, and this is just totally my opinion -- Jim has never said this, never implied this -- I think what Daniel Snyder was trying to do was to force Jim to resign so he was not liable for his contract any longer. And Jim is just not going to do that. He inherited everything that he has to work with today and yet all the blame is being laid on his feet because he can't make them a Super Bowl champion, which I could have told you two years ago, they don't have a Super Bowl-quality team. And so it doesn't matter how good a coach you have, you are not going to get there with the players the owner gives you. I know it's frustrating for Jim. He is making the best of it."

I wonder if we're going to see Snyder pull out an overhead projector and explain why Zorn was a terrible choice on his part.  No, no...that's ridiculous...he'll at least use Powerpoint, I'm sure.

It sucks to see so much scorn directed at Zorn (rhythm not intended) when clearly the problem is higher up in the organization *cough*atthetop*cough*

That's what happens when you take a head coaching job with out picking your staff!! so that's a bad decision on ZORN behalf!!!!!

Snyder, has to be patient and get the players needed over the next few years...so all the pieces fit just right.  The way he goes through coaches its crazy, the team has no chance to get their feet under the new one before he is fired and onto another.  Rarely does a team get a new owner, coach, etc and go onto win within a few years.  The owner has been there now but not the coaches.  All teams go through the lean years and make a come back...so will the Redskins...if Snyder sticks with a coach.

I actually don't know, but did he have that option?  Snyder isn't much different from Davis and Jones, right?  I don't think Zorn would have been given that much control from what I've heard about Snyder.

Sorry, I should have been more careful after my tour of the Browns facility this week.  I'll make sure to keep my mask on

Steve Largent is acting like an over protective wife lmao. As long as Jim Zorn doesn't quit things will turn around. As for the comment regarding not a superbowl championship team.Ms Largent is looking to far ahead?? Take it game by game. Its only a matter of time before they see where the real problem lies

Jim Zorn's last game will be monday night against the Eagles.  Word around the camp fire is that Shanahan is already signed and ready to be the next coach.  Even though it may not be until next year.

Haven't I've been saying it's Snyder for like months now it seems?  I need to check the site for my comments, then get a lawyer to sue Largent for plagiarism.  And I like Largent.

Didn't they start off pretty well last season? Seems to me that there are problems with the organization, but Jim Zorn isn't the issue

Dadburn, I thought Jerry Jones is a bad NFL owner until Daniel Snyder came along. He's worse than I thought!

I don't know how many true Redskin fans will get the chance to read my comments, but I so agree with Steve Largent here!!!  Ever since Snyder has become the primary owner of the 'Skins all he's done is spend money like it's water expecting a champion to be bourne, ever Gibbs couldn't get the job done the second time around.  Perhaps if Mr. Snyder would simply be an owner, HIRE a general manager and stay the hell out of the picture, maybe, just maybe The Redskins could resemble something like a championship team but until this happens the circle that is ongoing now will continue!!! I await any replies.  My name is Darryl and I'm sick to death of how my favorite team is being operated!!!

This true Redskins fan has been saying it on this site for months, and in public for a couple of years easily.

I'm glad Steve Largent stuck up for his buddy, but since Largent hangs out with a really strange crowd, I have a hard time taking him seriously anymore.

A comment about coaching a NFL....It must simply be an overwhelming proposition because to get hired and already have your assistant waiting for you it really amazing to me.  No way in HELL would I accept a position and I don't/can't have a say in who my boiz are going to be.  The sorry thing about Zorn is I don't believe Snyder believed in him as much as Cerrato did when the hiring came about.  All the BIG NAMES  that Snyder wanted probably told him to go jump off the Washington Monument before they would coach the 'Skins and they not have a say of who their assistants were going to.  Zorn should have rejected the idea of becoming the team's offensive coordinator once Gibbs retired the second time!!!
