Steve Phillips has been fired by ESPN
Steve Phillips is done at ESPN. Was it worth it, Steve?

According to ESPN's PR rep:
"Steve Phillips is no longer working for ESPN. His ability to be an effective rep of ESPN has been significantly & irreparably damaged."

No big loss here, in my opinion. Phillips was one of the worst "talents" on air anyway. He sucked as a GM, he sucked as an analyst, and apparently he sucked as a husband too. Good riddance, buddy.

Wonder if, "I'm Steve Phillips, I used to be on TV!" will be as effective a pickup line with the cookies as, "Hey babe, wanna do it with an on-air sports personality?" was?

Well said, Pat.  This guy very rarely had an original thought.  I think he'll have a tough time getting another job.

One should wonder, what is next for Steve?

wonder how many other ESPN employees will get fired for hooking up with their co-workers. my guess is none.

I liked him. Maybe MLB Network will offer him a position.

I wonder if flipping burgers at McDonald's is his next job, or being Ronald McDonald's sidekick?

This is such a common tail where one spouse cheats on another. If you would have thought more with his big head then his little one this would of not happened.  He now has lost his job, and more then likely his marriage. People that cheat on their spouses or partner should look at the hurt they are about cause? If they did that first then maybe they would realize the hurt they can avoid. I am speaking from experience I found my X-husband cheating on me the night of our 25th wedding anniversary the hurt and the pain that he cause not only to me but our children was unbearable. But I am happily married again and a much stronger woman.
The Phillips will need to pull together to get through this. Even if Steve stays or he gets kick to the curb.

Why do care that someone cheated on his wife and then drag that topic thru the mud happens all the time why break out personal stories and all that business.  The guy got fired I liked Steve personally and that's what it is.  Their marriage is their business not ours.

He was god awful on the air and I like to think some right-minded baseball fan put this girl up to it to get him off my television.  Now where can we find a fat girl to sleep with Joe Morgan or Chris Berman?

If every "cheater" lost their job due to having an affair...there would be massive unemployment.  Most look at affairs as no big deal these days...where in the past, cheating on your partner cost you...you lost your home, family, and it cost you in the wallet/purse,and others lost their respect for you.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  He is not the first to cheat on a good looking wife for someone less attractive.  She is not innocent in this either...if he had been a no body, like most cheaters are,we never would of known about it.

Billy, this line would be more effective:

Phillips: Do you have any baseball analyst in you?
Woman: No.
Phillips: Would you like some?

Not that I advocate cheating on your spouse/significant other, but Steve Phillips broke the two top rules of cheating:

1) Don't Get Caught
2) If you're going to cheat, CHEAT UP! You don't choose Spam over Prime Rib.

I already applied there. Can I use you as a reference? I will unite forces with Jay Glazer to conquer Chris Mortenson!

I feel kind of sorry for the guy, especially since it seems this kind of thing goes on at ESPN quite often (if Deadspin is to be believed).

Someone should have let him know that jumping on the grenade is only to be used in one-night situations..Not actually jumping on a grenade, taking her out to dinner, to Star Wars conventions evidently, or anywhere in public for that matter

An appearance on Oprah or Dr. Phil would be my guess.... followed by "I'm a sex addict" claims, then some therapy.... then he'll be back on Fox.

Yeah, but he was doing it with a female (allegedly) that worked in the same place where he worked. It is a risk for ESPN to let him stay after that happened. If she sued for sexual harassment, saying that Phillips used his position of rank to get in bed with her, then ESPN might be party to that or seem negligent if they didn't fire him.

If he was hooking up with some random person that wasn't an ESPN employee, I don't think he'd have gotten fired.

That great some people go their whole life looking for their soulmate. What they don't they have already met! I don't know if my x was or wasn't all I know now is the man in my life is my world.
