Study shows that NBA referees have some biases towards home teams and losing teams
Recent research shows that referees do indeed show bias while calling a game... but not entirely how you would think.

From the article: An academic study of NBA officiating found little to no evidence that referees favor teams from large media markets in the playoffs, a favorite conspiracy theory of skeptical fans.

But the same study found that NBA referees tend to favor home teams, teams trailing in a game and teams trailing in a playoff series.

Check out the link to read the rest. It's no shock really, but pretty interesting, to say the least.

Conspiracy, coincidence, or whatever, even the Tim Donaghy scandal couldn't consistently prove one of those theories.  An interesting read no doubt, but a study done by 3 economic researchers studying 6 NBA seasons doesn't exactly give a huge sample to draw from.
That's a large enough sample for me.

OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!!!!!!!!!!!

The most unstoppable force in all of basketball:

That's all that really needs to be said about this article...

Good point.  If it were one guy in his parents' basement I would give the same assessment and punishment.

But of course, Tim Donaghy was trying NOT to be consistent with his shenanigans.

I honestly don't think he was that smart, or it is possible to organize something so random in that way, but you win just for using my favorite word in the English language.

No Pat, Donaghy was always striving to be consistent with his calls. He was just trying to keep his calls consistent in relation to the Over/Under.

'NBA Refs are the best in the world" Sorry I'm not buying it. That's dadburncottonpickin' hogwash in my opinion.

I think we will know our answer if Dwight or Kobe each get a techincal foul called on the same night.  Each has 5 out of the maximum allowable of 7, and who would really want to watch a game with one or both of them missing?  If one goes, both go, and we will know then that the fix truly is in.

L.A. Lakers + Boston Celtics = higher ratings.......I find that sooooooo unfair! even to my team the Cleveland Cavaliers.
