Suggestions of how to improve the Hall of Fame
by CMB
1/10/07

Steve DiMeglio and Seth Livingstone of USA Today make 5 suggestions of how to improve the Hall.  First, they say that it should be moved.  Cooperstown is a nice city, however, there is very limited space.  There is practically no parking and the building itself cannot display the increasing amount of memorabilia that belongs there.  They suggest the hall should move to the current Yankee Stadium that will be no more in 2009.  Second, they say to induct Pete Rose and Shoeless Joe into the hall.  The hall of fame already includes a lot of colorful characters so why not just add these two in as well.  Third, redistribute the members of the Hall of Fame.  Instead of continuously adding 2-5 members each year into the same group, make different levels that different players make it in as, including the absolute best of the best to others who made very important off the field contributions.  The fourth suggestion is to allow more people to vote.  Instead of just allowing about 500 baseball writers vote, they should let historians and baseball executives vote as well.  The final thing these two suggest is to play a double-header during the annual Hall of Fame day in May.  Keep the annual game they play, but also play an old-timers game.  I think that would be very enjoyable to watch.  So what do you think about these suggestions?

Some very nice ideas. I have been to Cooperstown which is a very classy city. It kind of reminds you of the past time. I wouldnt move it into the Bronx though. Not many tourist would go there. I think the city would be better place to move it.
