There was never a television broadcast that had a greater average number of viewers than the series finale of M-A-S-H back in 1983...until now.  Super Bowl XLIV surpassed that record.  Peyton Manning versus the battered city of New Orleans made for an excellent story line, and people tuned in to watch more than any other program in television history.
