TCU quarterback Casey Pachall is back on campus and has been reinstated to the football team, reports David Ubben of ESPN.Blog Photo - TCU Football: Casey Pachall back on Horned Frogs' roster

Pachall was suspended indefinitely after being charged with a DUI in early October, which was his second offense as a member of the program. He then disenrolled from the university and spent time at a drug and alcohol rehab facility.

"He finished all of his in-patient work and has been in out-patient work up until Friday," said coach Gary Patterson. "He did everything we wanted him to do."

"He looks great," Patterson added. "It's like he looked when he was a freshman. Right now, we feel really good about this. It's never going to be 100 percent perfect, but there is a chance we did the right thing and made a difference. You've got to understand, everybody is going to be watching on this."

Even if Pachall does everything right the next few months, it’s going to be difficult for him to earn his starting job back. Freshman backup Trevone Boykin showed a lot of promise as a playmaker by throwing 15 touchdowns and rushing for 417 yards.

Still, Pachall was the undoubted leader of the offense before he left. He’s a much more well-rounded passer than Boykin and takes better care of the ball.

Either way, his return to the roster is good news for Patterson. He’ll either get his starting quarterback back – which would allow Boykin to develop for 2014 – or he’ll get a sideline mentor for Boykin.

Pachall will have one year of eligibility left for 2013. He started his classes at TCU today.
