Terrelle Pryor's high school coach said that Pryor should have gone to Michigan
Should Terrelle Pryor have gone to Michigan? That's what his high school coach said.
17
"There is no question that Rich Rodriguez's offense, for example, would be more apt to suit Terrelle's skills. But Ohio State sold him on the idea that they would prepare him for the NFL and that they don't run 'zone-read' in the NFL. Jim Tressel is a great coach. But I can tell you there is more to Terrelle Pryor than what we've been seeing."

After seeing a few glimpses of what Pryor is capable of, and now seeing how he is utilized at Ohio State, it's clear that Tressel could do more with him, and with that Ohio State team in general.

What do you think? Would Pryor have done better in maize and blue? Or was Ohio State the right choice?

He would look better fumbling and throwing interceptions in blue as opposed to red?

I have been saying this over and over to my friends and family.  Finally someone else has said it.

He absolutely should have gone to Michigan.  Imagine a guy of Pryor's size and and athleticism running Rich Rod's offense a la Pat White.  It would have been ridiculous.  However, as a Notre Dame fan, I'm happy he went to O$U considering the Irish won't have to face him every year.

Actually more than 2 years ago Chris Brown of Smart Football smartfootball.blogspot.com was one of many who said that Michigan, WVU, Florida and other teams than use direct-snap, read or zone option concepts and Spread Formations primarily would be best for him, a scout friend of wanted to see him go to USC and become a TE, few talent evaluators thought tOSU was a good fit for Pryor.

I think he would make an awesome receiver or h-back.  Unfortunately for him, he thought he could dominate and become the next Vince Young.  Too bad he couldn't see that Young's game has not translated to the NFL.

Calm down a little folks!!..The kid is not even halfway through his  sophomore year!!..Even though I agree that he would be doing better at Michigan, the best is still yet to come for Pryor at Ohio St....Lets be patient.

I agree to an extent, but until the sweater vest opens up the playbook and stops being so conservative, I don't think we'll ever see the best of Pryor.

he too will be a failure in ther NFL like most OSU players have been recently....i would have liked him to have come to U of M but the Wolverines are doing just fine without him...sure their first year was rough but now they are catching on and i see Michigan turning the tables on OSU next season and winning the Big Ten title outright:)

I think he should've stayed close to home at Pitt. I seen this kid play at the WPIAL championships and he made everyone else look like a five year old. It was the most amazing thing I've ever seen on a football field. The reason I say Pitt is because he would've been a standout player. You only have to throw the ball within 5 feet of the receivers, just ask Bill Stull.

What short memories we all have. Remember how uncontrolled Troy Smith looked until his senior season. None of us are in this kids head or sat in his living room when the recruiters came to visit but, I would bet that OSU offered the greatest potential of being transformed into a "pro-style" QB and the 25-30 mill garunteed NFL money that comes with it.

I feel that the coaching staff need to change the offense to help Pryor. When you get someone with his talent you need to use it to his srength!!!

My memory is just fine and troy Smith's passing mechnics in terms of ball carriage, stepping with the proper vector and depth as well as weight transfer were better when he was a Jr. at Glenville are ahead of where Pryor is now.  Actually Smith's physical limits, 6 feet 1/8 inch tall, forced him to do certain things correctly.
A man amongst boys comment was made and that is part of the problem.  Pryor was so incredibly dominant in size and speed he neglected, or was not taught, the fine points of technique, he needed to redshirt and have has mechanics radically retooled.  Actually a team like USC, very deep at QB so no need to rush and running a true pro style offense, would have been his best shot to improve, but schools like those wouldn't promise to leave him at QB, perhaps wisely so.

Maybe so..OSU doesnt have the running game like years passed and no  big name receivers as well..maybe we should look at the teams coaching philosophy..although Im a Gator, I went to Ohio State for a time and maybe for them to compete with SEC and not get embarrassed again they need to diversify. Tressel may not be the direction to take to that end..  there is more to NCAA football then beating Michigan year after year. Until Ohio has designs on National Championships and not just the big Ten , the best.HS athletes will continue to go south.

well i am waiting to see him be pulled for the backup( who is it ) he is not getting treated as qb's in the past!!! if Smith messed up the backup comes in.make him think about the mistake that he has made and let him see the consequences to him making bad decisions, it not the offensive line messing up its Pryor.....that is why they call them backups to backup the qb................make him think about his position and for him to know that he can and will lose it if he continues this spiral effect hes having on the team....
