Although I am a Longhorn fan and really will not get credit for an unbiased opinion. I'll give mine anyway. #1, #3 and #4 lost. The only possible teams for #1 would be the #2 Crimson Tide who did not play and the #5 Longhorns who beat the #1 team in the country. Now, that said, I have to look at the common opponents between Alabama and Texas. Bothe teams have played the lowly Arkansas Razorbacks. Alabam played the Hogs on 9/20/08 and won 49-14. Both TD's scored by Arkansas were offensive TD's. One scored in the second quarter ona pass and one scored in the fourth quarter also on a pass. The Longhorns played the Hogs the very next week and beat them 52-10. The only TD scored against the Horns was a defensive 80 Yd fumble return with less than 3 minutes left in the game. I gotta give the nod to the Horns right now.

Texas played Arkansas at home, Bama beat them at Arkansas in their SEC home opener. Advantage, Alabama. (IMO, of course)
But, I don't have a problem with Texas being ranked #1. Like it was discussed yesterday, timing is everything in college football. Bama was off, and #5 Texas beat #1 Oklahoma.
It's not really antyhing to get bent out of shape over. (1) It doesn't really matter until the BCS rankings come out. (2) If Alabama takes care of itself and wins its games, they will be where they deserve to be in the end. (3) Whoever is #1 has the bigger target on their back. In a season full of upsets with plenty more to come, I'm glad to have as little attention on Bama as possible. And with a #2 ranking, it gives them more incentive to win each week, instead of just surviving.
I dont have a problem with Texas being number one. But I do have a problem with UGA not even moving in the polls. Now that team has the no respect card to work with so UF will be enjoying another tally in the loss column when FLA/UGA comes around.
Bama does have the advantage because it wasnt in Bama's house like Texas had. And you also have to remember it was a conference game between Bama and Ark. So a little more familiarity there when it comes to personel and game schemes

Now you must remember that Texas and Arkansas have one of the most prolific rivalries in college football playing each other 75 times leading back to their days in the Southwest Conference. They have also played each other 5 times in the 12 years since the break up of the Southwest conference, four of those under Mack Brown. With this being only the second season under Nick Saban, I have to shoot down that familiarity comment.
As far as that your hose or my house stuff......I don't know. With all due respect for my friends from Arkansas, the Hogs suck this year. It really should not matter if you play them at home or at their place. Or on someone's back yard.
I'm not even gonna comment on the beating of Florida. Seriously??? You got LSU the week before that too.
How do you feel now?? Texas is a unanimous #1 after routing #11 Missouri the week after dismantling the then #1 Oklahoma Sooners. Strength of Schedule gives them a BCS ranking of .998 out of 1.000. It don't get much better than that boys and girls.....

Dude....I actually dread the Baylor game. The Horns will run the gauntlet of Oklahoma, Missouri, Olahoma State and Texas Tech and then lose to an improved Baylor team at home to blow the season.
I do like the matchup though. #1 Texas against #6 Oklahomo State in Austin.
Hopefully the tower will be orange and 6th street will be rockin'
