During last night's marathon, 19 inning game between the Cincinnati Reds and the Philadelphia Phillies, inflelder Wilson Valdez was called on to pitch to the heart of the Reds lineup by Phillies manager Charlie Manuel. Valdez responded by retiring reigning NL MVP Joey Votto, Jay Bruce and his counterpart on the mound, Carlos Fisher, who pitched 6 innings of relief out of the Reds bullpen. In the bottom of the 19th, Raul Ibanez hit a sac fly to end the over 6 hour game and in the process put Valdez's name in the record books next to Babe Ruth as the only two guys to start a game as position player and end the game as the winning pitcher
