While this is a change of pace from the constant stream of roid-related news, it's another testament to the worsening and sad state of the economy.  While the A-Rod/steroid thing seem to undermine the game of baseball, this story seems to highlight something that is effecting the entire nation.  Sports are the distraction everyone needs in times like these, and it sucks to see that it really is effecting the whole country, and even the world.

What's bad, and we will see this this summer, is the current economic situation that we are in will affect attendance this summer big time. It hasn't affected the NBA or NFL yet because well the NBA season ticket's were all bought before we turned worse and the NFL is the NFL. Baseball will be the first to see how bad it really is out there.

We will ultimately see just how bad it is.  Sports are the outlet that everyone looks to when things are bad, but watching the game at home is a free although less fun alternative.  I don't think the NFL will suffer too much, but with 81 home games per team in the MLB, I think you're right, that will be the first to suffer.  Also, season ticket prices were set before things got so much worse.  I foresee a lot more promo games, but the damage will likely continue for at least this year.

again, no remorse for a millionaire, regardless of profession.  the money is urs to f*ck-up, and if that's exactly what u do, then that''s exactly what u receive.
